Abstract
Speaking skill is recognized as one of the four most essential language competencies in Indonesian language learning, particularly at the elementary school level. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-confidence levels and creative thinking abilities with the speaking skills of fourth-grade students at Poncol 3 Elementary School, Magetan Regency. The low level of students' speaking skills, characterized by passive attitudes and difficulties in constructing coherent sentences, serves as the primary background for this research. This study employs a quantitative correlational method with a sample of 20 students. Data were collected through self-confidence questionnaires, creative thinking ability questionnaires, and speaking skill tests. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques with the support of SPSS software. Based on the data analysis, the results as follows: (1) There is a positive and significant relationship between self-confidence and students' speaking skills, with a significance value of 0.000. Higher self-confidence correlates with improved speaking performance. (2) There is a positive and significant relationship between creative thinking ability and speaking skills, with a significance value of 0.000. Creative thinking ability contributes more dominantly to enhancing speaking skills compared to the self-confidence variable. (3) There is a positive and significant relationship between self-confidence and creative thinking ability simultaneously with students' speaking skills, with a significance value of 0.000. The synergy between psychological capital (self-confidence) and cognitive capacity (creative thinking) is identified as the primary key to fostering optimal speaking skills in students.
