Abstract

This study aims to develop educational board game media as well as test its influence on motivation and results of students' learning in science at the basic. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, while the effectiveness test was done through a design experiment pseudo with a pattern pretest-posttest control group in class experiments and classes control group, each consisting of 28 students. Data collection using a questionnaire, motivation study, test results, learning, observation, and validation expert. Research results show that the media developed valid, practical, and effective criteria. Improvement motivation and results study in the class experiment is taller compared to the class control, and there is a significant difference between the second group. Findings: this shows that educational board games can increase student involvement and strengthen understanding more interactively. In theoretical research, this supports the constructivist approach to motivation in learning-based game. In practice, developed media can be used in a flexible way in various science materials as an alternative innovation for teachers. Although limitations on the number of samples and coverage material show the need to study advanced with larger scale.
