Abstract

Basic reading skills are a fundamental foundation for students' academic success in elementary school. The results of observations conducted in Grade I at SD Negeri Sudimoro, Megaluh District, Jombang Regency, indicated that students' basic reading abilities varied considerably, highlighting the need for more innovative learning through the use of digital media. This study aimed to describe: (1) the implementation of the beginning reading method using digital interactive board media in basic reading instruction, (2) the evaluation of the implementation of the method, and (3) the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of the principal, the first-grade teacher, and first-grade students of SD Negeri Sudimoro, Megaluh District, Jombang Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, while data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation.The findings revealed that the implementation of the beginning reading method using digital interactive board media was carried out successfully and created a more active, engaging, and interactive learning environment, thereby improving students' basic reading skills. The evaluation was conducted through both test and non-test assessments. The successful implementation was supported by the availability of digital learning facilities, teachers' competence, school support, and students' enthusiasm. Meanwhile, the main obstacles included technical problems with the equipment, limited technological proficiency, and differences in students' initial reading abilities.In conclusion, the implementation of the beginning reading method using digital interactive board media made a positive contribution to improving the quality of basic reading instruction for first-grade students at SD Negeri Sudimoro, Megaluh District, Jombang Regency.
