Abstract
ABSTRACT Ika Devi Diyan Novitasari. 2026. Analysis of Character Education Values in the Novel "Mata dan Rahasia Pulau Gapi" by Okky Madasari and Its Relevance to Learning at SD Negeri Sumberdodol 2, Panekan District, Magetan Regency. Thesis. Master's Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Postgraduate Program, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors: (I) Dr. Panji Kuncoro Hadi, M.Pd., (II) Dr. Kodrat Eko Putro Setiawan, M.Pd. Keywords: Character education values, children's novel, Mata dan Rahasia Pulau Gapi, Pancasila Student Profile, elementary school learning. This study aims to analyze the character education values contained in the children's novel Mata dan Rahasia Pulau Gapi by Okky Madasari and to examine its relevance to learning at SD Negeri Sumberdodol 2, Panekan District, Magetan Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach with an analytical descriptive method through content analysis techniques. Primary data were obtained from the novel's text in the form of words, sentences, dialogues, and story fragments, while secondary data were obtained through non-participant observation in the school environment. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data validity tested through member-checking techniques. The findings indicate that the novel contains six dimensions of character values aligned with the Pancasila Student Profile, namely faith and piety toward God Almighty, global diversity, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), independence, critical reasoning, and creativity, with the dimensions of critical reasoning and mutual cooperation appearing most dominant through characterization, plot, and setting. These values are conveyed through characters' dialogues, characters' actions, story conflicts, and the author's narration, making them easily understood by elementary school-age readers. The analysis also shows that these values have high relevance to the learning needs at SD Negeri Sumberdodol 2, both in terms of psychological suitability for upper-grade students, support for the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum through the Strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile Project (P5) with the theme of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity), and sociocultural suitability with the rural environment on the slopes of Mount Lawu. This study recommends the novel Mata dan Rahasia Pulau Gapi as an alternative, contextual literary teaching material for strengthening character education in elementary schools.
