Madiun: Master's Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun. This study was motivated by the low level of poetry writing skills and learning motivation among sixth-grade students at SD Negeri Sidokaton, Kudu District, Jombang Regency. The purpose of this study was to improve students' poetry writing skills and learning motivation through the use of word card media. This study employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which was conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 19 sixth-grade students, comprising 10 male students and 9 female students. Data were collected through observation, poetry writing tests, learning motivation questionnaires, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The findings showed that the implementation of word card media improved both students' poetry writing skills and learning motivation. The percentage of students who achieved the minimum mastery criterion increased from 58% in Cycle I, with an average score of 69, to 84% in Cycle II, with an average score of 81. Students' learning motivation also showed a significant improvement, increasing from 21% in the pre-cycle stage to 74% in Cycle I and reaching 89% in Cycle II. These findings indicate that word card media helped students generate ideas, enrich their vocabulary, and enhance their participation and creativity in writing poetry. Therefore, word card media proved to be an effective instructional medium for improving poetry writing skills and learning motivation in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level.
