Abstract
The digital era demands that achieving Generation Z students balance academic requirements with their personal, social, and psychological lives. In reality, many high-achieving students experience an imbalance between academic demands and personal life due to heavy workloads, limited rest, and a lack of time for social activities factors that risk compromising their well being and drive for achievement. This study aims to: 1) examine the state of work life balance among high-achieving students at SMA Negeri 2 Mejayan; 2) identify the factors influencing work-life balance for these students; and 3) determine the impact of work life balance on them. A qualitative case study approach was employed to gain in-depth insight into the participants' subjective experiences. The primary data sources were three achieving students from SMA Negeri 2 Mejayan, with guidance counselors and homeroom teachers serving as supporting informants. Data collection was conducted via semi-structured interviews, while data analysis involved data reduction to identify patterns and themes, narrative data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that achieving students achieve work-life balance in diverse ways through priority based time management, varying levels of engagement in non-academic activities, and personally defined life satisfaction. Factors influencing this balance include workload, comfort, organizational support, personality traits, and environmental factors. Maintaining work-life balance positively impacts achievement, discipline, and mental health, whereas an imbalance leads to physical fatigue and emotional stress.
