Abstract
ABSTRACT Ratna Juwita Indriani. 2026. Speaking Learning Using Role Play Technique and Interactive Learning Video Media for Fourth-Grade Students of SDN Sumberdodol 1, Kecamatan Panekan, Kabupaten Magetan. Thesis. Master’s Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education. Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA). Supervisor I: Dr. Panji Kuncoro Hadi, S.S, M.Pd., Supervisor II: Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: role play, interactive learning video, speaking skills, case study, elementary school. This research is motivated by the low speaking skills of fourth-grade students at SDN Sumberdodol 1, Kecamatan Panekan, Kabupaten Magetan, reflected in a lack of confidence in performing, difficulty in expressing ideas orally, and limited vocabulary. The objective is to describe speaking learning using role play techniques and interactive learning video media and to analyze its impact on students' speaking skills. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects were fourth-grade students. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis of recorded student speech, then analyzed interactively using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that the role play technique encourages students to practice speaking in a fun role-playing context, while interactive learning video media provides models of correct pronunciation, intonation, and expression. Both media synergistically enhanced students' confidence, fluency, and vocabulary mastery. Students also showed high enthusiasm and active participation during the learning process. In conclusion, speaking learning using role play techniques and interactive learning video media has a positive impact and is recommended as an innovation in speaking instruction at the elementary school level.
