Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of instilling ecological awareness from an early age and the potential of literary works as a medium for character and literacy reinforcement. The objective is to analyze ecoliteracy values in the novel Negeri 5 Menara and describe its relevance to Indonesian language learning for fourth-grade elementary students. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with library research and document analysis. Data sources were the novel Negeri 5 Menara and elementary Indonesian curriculum documents. Data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques, then analyzed interactively through data reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings reveal that the novel contains ecoliteracy values encompassing ecological knowledge, caring attitudes, and pro-environmental behavior, such as appreciation of nature, local wisdom, simple living, and responsibility for environmental sustainability. These values are relevant to the learning outcomes of fourth-grade Indonesian language, particularly in listening to stories, reading comprehension, and writing narrative texts. This novel can serve as a meaningful contextual teaching material to integrate environmental education into literature learning. In conclusion, the novel Negeri 5 Menara is rich in ecoliteracy values and has strong relevance to strengthening character and improving literacy in elementary school students.
