Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the PhET Simulation learning media with the Discovery Learning model on the IPAS academic achievement of fifth-grade students at SDN Winong 02. This study employs a quantitative approach using an experimental research design. The study population consisted of 29 fifth-grade students at SDN Winong 02, and nonprobability sampling was used. Data were collected through pretests and posttests consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions and 4 essay questions. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software, including a normality test and a paired-sample t-test. The results indicate that the use of the PhET Simulation learning media with the Discovery Learning model has an effect on students’ academic achievement. Before the intervention, the percentage of students who met the learning mastery criteria was 3.45%, while 96.55% of students had not yet achieved mastery. After the intervention, the mastery rate increased to 93.10%, with 27 students scoring above 70, while 2 students (6.90%) scored below 70. The results of the paired-sample t-test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of < 0.001 (< 0.05), so H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted.
