Abstract

This research is motivated by the low reading literacy skills and interests of elementary school students, particularly among Generation Alpha, who are more drawn to technological and visual aspects than long reading texts in paragraph form. The focus of this study is on the implementation of reading literacy skills by utilizing Canva-based multimodal texts to enhance students' reading interest and comprehension in the 3rd grade at SDN 1 Bedrug, Ponorogo Regency. The purpose of this research is to implement effective and enjoyable reading literacy learning strategies, analyze the effectiveness of using multimodal texts, and increase students' learning interest and understanding through technological innovation. The research method used is qualitative research. Data collection techniques were conducted through direct observation of the learning process, structured interviews with class teachers and students, and documentation in the form of activity photos and student work. Data validity was tested using source and technique triangulation. Data analysis techniques followed the interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions.The results showed that prior to the use of multimodal texts, students tended to feel tired, lethargic, and less interested in reading texts in paragraph form. After the implementation of multimodal texts based on the Canva application, which combines reading elements and images, students showed a significant increase in enthusiasm, motivation, and attention in finding information within the reading texts. It is concluded that the use of Canva-based multimodal texts is effective as an innovative tool to overcome reading literacy barriers and create a more enjoyable Indonesian language learning atmosphere for elementary school students.
