Indonesian Master of Language and Literature Education Study Program, Post Graduate Program Universitas PGRI Madiun. Pembimbing (I) Dr. Panji Kuncoro Hadi, S.S., M.Pd.; (II) Dr. Suhartini, M.Pd. Keywords: speaking skills, picture stories, speaking instruction. This study aims to describe the implementation of picture story-assisted speaking instruction and to examine the improvement of speaking skills of second-grade students at SDN Widodaren 4, Gerih District, Ngawi Regency. The background of this research is the low level of speaking skills among lower-grade elementary school students, which is characterized by limited speaking fluency, difficulties in word recognition, and low speaking comprehension. Conventional speaking instruction with minimal use of engaging media often results in low student motivation and interest. Therefore, picture stories were used as learning media to help students understand texts in a more concrete and enjoyable way.
