Abstract

ABSTRACT Arhainy Eka Liestyani. 2025. Improving Narrative Writing Skills through the Use of Flashcard Media and Interactive Strategies among Fourth-Grade Students of SD Negeri 3 Getas, Tanjunganom, Nganjuk. Master’s Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisor (I) Dr. Muhammad Hanif, M.M., M.Pd., (II) Dr. Aris Wuryantoro, S.S., M.Hum. Keywords: flashcard media, interactive strategies, writing skills, narrative writing, Indonesian language learning The low level of narrative writing skills among fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 3 Getas, Tanjunganom, Nganjuk served as the background of this study. This research aimed to improve students’ narrative writing skills through the use of flashcard media combined with interactive strategies. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on Kurt Lewin’s model, conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 26 fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 3 Getas, Tanjunganom, Nganjuk. Data were collected through observation, interviews, writing tests, and documentation. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques to assess improvements in students’ writing skills. The results showed that the implementation of flashcard media and interactive strategies increased students’ interest and participation in the writing learning process. The findings indicate that: (1) the implementation of flashcard media was carried out optimally, as shown by the teacher observation results in Cycle I of 70.83 (fair), which increased to 89.58 (very good) in Cycle II, while student observation results improved from 70.83 (fair) to 87.50 (good); (2) students’ writing skills improvement showed that in the pre-cycle stage mastery learning reached 30.76% (very poor), increased to 53.84% (poor) in Cycle I, and further improved to 80.76% (good) in Cycle II. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of flashcard media combined with interactive strategies is effective in improving narrative writing skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Getas, Tanjunganom, Nganjuk.
