Abstract
ABSTRAK Hartatiek. 2025. The Use of Audio-Visual Media in Science Learning to Improve Motivation and Learning Outcomes of Third-Grade Students at Manguharjo Elementary School. Thesis. Madiun: Master of Social Sciences Education Study Program, Postgraduate Faculty, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Dr. Ibadulah Malawi, M.Pd., (II) Dr. Yudi Hartono, M.Pd. Keywords: Audio-Visual Media, Motivation, Learning Outcomes The study showed a significant increase in student learning motivation from Cycle I to Cycle II. In Cycle I, learning motivation data showed that 15 students (75%) remained enthusiastic in the science lessons, 11 students (55%) found it easy to understand the lesson material, 11 students (55%) experienced drowsiness or boredom, 17 students (85%) tried to pay attention to the lesson, and 11 students (55%) experienced difficulty in imagining the science material. In Cycle II, there was a very significant increase where the number of students who showed enthusiasm in the science learning increased to 20 students (100%), felt it was easier to understand the learning material increased to 20 students (100%), students who showed curiosity were 17 students (85%), paid serious attention to the learning material were 20 students (100%), and were more focused on the science material were 20 students (100%). The increase in enthusiasm was 25%, the increase in ease of understanding the material was 45%, and the increase in curiosity was 45%. A 30% increase in student learning outcomes, a 15% increase in attention, and a 45% increase in focus on audiovisual media. The method used in this study was qualitative CAR. The total population in this study was 20 students. Motivation data was collected using a questionnaire, while learning outcomes were measured using a test. The results of the learning evaluation showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes from Cycle I to Cycle II. In Cycle I, the learning outcomes showed a maximum score of 5.00, a maximum score of 8.00, and an average score of 6.50. This achievement shows that most of the students have not yet reached the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) which is 7.00, with the classical completeness level of only 35%. In Cycle II, after the optimal implementation of audiovisual media, there was a very significant increase in learning outcomes with the best score increasing to 7.00, the highest score increasing to 9.00, and the average class score increasing to 8.00. This shows that all students have achieved the KKM with a classical completeness level of 100%.
