Abstract
ABSTRACT Hari Kuncoro. 2025. The Value of Character Education in the Folktale of Bantul Regency, “Ki Ageng Mangir”. Thesis. Master's Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education. Graduate School of PGRI University Madiun (UNIPMA). Advisor I: Dr. Jeffry Handika, M.Pd, Advisor II: Dr. Aris Wuryantoro, M.Hum. Keywords: Character Education, Folktales, Ki Ageng Mangir This study aims to: (1) Describe the character education values contained in the folk tale of Bantul Regency, “Ki Ageng Mangir”; (2) Describe the character of Ki Ageng Mangir that reflects character education values; (3) Describe the relevance of the character education values contained in the folk tale to be applied in language learning. The research method used in this study was qualitative descriptive. The data analysis used in this study was interactive analysis. The results of the study show that: (1) Character education values in the Ki Ageng Mangir folk tale are reflected through various actions and responses of characters that describe the moral consistency of the Bantul community in the past; (2) The character of Ki Ageng Mangir shows that a character is not only built on physical courage, but also on mature morality and a willingness to maintain the dignity of oneself and one's group; (3) The character education values in the story of Ki Ageng Mangir are highly relevant for application in language learning because they can be used as a means of shaping moral sensitivity, critical literacy skills, and the ability to understand cultural values.
