Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of descriptive writing instruction using the field trip method supported by video media, identify the problems encountered, and formulate solutions in its application for fifth-grade students at SDN Bareng I, Sugihwaras District, Bojonegoro Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design involving a fifth-grade teacher and 13 fifth-grade students as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data validity was ensured through technique and source triangulation. The results indicate that the implementation of the field trip method supported by video media was carried out through preparation, implementation, and follow-up stages, beginning with direct observation activities at the Kayangan Api tourist site and reinforced by the use of video media as a visual stimulus in writing descriptive texts. This learning process created a more contextual, meaningful, and student-centered learning environment, enabling students to become more active and enthusiastic and to express their observations in well-organized and factual descriptive writing. The problems identified included limited learning facilities, challenges in classroom management, students’ low language proficiency and self-confidence, as well as the need for more complex technical preparation and supervision. The solutions included optimizing the teacher’s role as a facilitator, utilizing video media to strengthen visual stimuli, gradually developing students’ language skills, and improving lesson planning and learning management. Therefore, the field trip method supported by video media has considerable potential to enhance the quality of descriptive writing instruction in elementary schools when supported by careful planning, adequate facilities, and intensive teacher guidance.
