Abstract

Mi’anah. 2025. Improving Pantun Writing Skills through the Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach for Sixth Grade Students of SDN 2 Kalianyar, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency. Thesis. Master’s Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors: (I) Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, S.S., M.Pd.; (II) Dr. Kodrat Eko Putro Setiawan, S.Pd., M.Pd. Keywords: writing, pantun, contextual teaching and learning This study aims to describe and explain (1) the implementation of learning to write pantun through the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach for sixth grade students of SDN 2 Kalianyar, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency, and (2) students’ learning outcomes in writing children’s pantun through the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach for sixth grade students of SDN 2 Kalianyar, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. The results of this study show that (1) the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach was carried out well, as indicated by the observation scores of teacher and student activities, which increased from Cycle I to Cycle II. The teacher’s activity score in Cycle I was 75 (moderate) and increased to 90 (high) in Cycle II. The students’ activity score in Cycle I was 70 (moderate) and increased to 87.5 (high) in Cycle II. (2) Learning outcomes in writing pantun through the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach also improved. This is evidenced by the percentage of students achieving mastery, which was 50% (low) in Cycle I and increased significantly to 79.17% (very high) in Cycle II. The class average score in Cycle I was 71.67 (moderate) and increased to 76.25 (high) in Cycle II.
