Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of teaching essay writing skills using Wordwall game-based interactive media, to reveal students’ responses, and to identify findings that emerge from the implementation of the media in learning. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects were elementary school students participating in essay writing instruction using Wordwall media. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the use of Wordwall media is able to create a more active, enjoyable, and participatory learning atmosphere. Wordwall functions as an initial stimulus that helps students generate ideas and vocabulary before writing essays. Students’ responses to the learning process indicate increased motivation and learning engagement. Analysis of students’ written work reveals gradual improvements in idea development, vocabulary selection, and sentence coherence, although limitations are still found in the use of spelling and punctuation. The findings of this study indicate that Wordwall game-based interactive media has the potential to serve as an alternative strategy for contextual and meaningful essay writing instruction. This study recommends the utilization of interactive digital media in language learning to support the sustainable development of students’ language skills.
