Abstract

ABSTRACT Yudida, Nova Weny. 2025. The Application of Educational Comic Media in Paragraph Writing Learning for improving ability fourth Grade Students of SDN Trenggulunan I, Ngasem District, Bojonegoro Regency. Thesis. Indonesian Master of Language and Literature Education Study Program, Post Graduate Program Universitas PGRI Madiun. Pembimbing (I) Prof. Dr. Bambang Eko Hari Cahyono, M.Pd.; (II) Dr. Muhammad Binur Huda, M.Pd. Keywords: educational comic media, ability to write paragraphs, Indonesian language learning. . This study aims to (1) describe the implementation of educational comic media in teaching paragraph writing and (2) describe the improvement of paragraph writing skills of fourth-grade students at SDN Trenggulunan I, Ngasem District, Bojonegoro Regency after the implementation of educational comic media. This research employed a qualitative approach using Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 18 fourth-grade students of SDN Trenggulunan I. Data were collected through observation, paragraph writing tests, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative analysis and simple quantitative analysis to determine students’ improvement in each cycle. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of educational comic media was effective and created a more engaging, enjoyable, and student-centered learning environment. Educational comics helped students understand the concept of paragraphs more concretely through visual storytelling, making it easier for them to identify main ideas and develop supporting sentences. Furthermore, the findings reveal a gradual improvement in students’ paragraph writing skills from the pre-cycle to Cycle I and Cycle II. In Cycle II, most students were able to write coherent and well-structured paragraphs in accordance with language conventions.
