Improving Speaking Skills Using the Student Facilitator and Explaining Type Cooperative Learning Model for Grade III Students of SD Negeri 2 Nglawak, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency. Theses. Keywords: speaking, cooperative, and student facilitator and explaining This study aims to describe (1) the cooperative learning model of the Student Facilitator And Explaining type can improve the speaking skills of students of Class III of SD Negeri 2 Nglawak, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of students of Class III of SD Negeri 2 Nglawak, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency in learning to speak using the cooperative learning model of the Student Facilitator And Explaining type. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the use of the cooperative learning model of the Student Facilitator and Explaining type can improve the speaking skills of students of Class III of SD Negeri 2 Nglawak, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency, experiencing improvements in both the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. This is evidenced by the implementation process of the second cycle of learning which is more effective and satisfying with maximum results. Students are more enthusiastic and motivated to be active in participating in learning, and students begin to have the courage and confidence to speak in expressing their opinions, and (2) The learning outcomes of third-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Nglawak, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency, in speaking lessons using the student facilitator and explaining cooperative learning model have increased. The average overall student score in cycle I was 70.3, while in cycle II it was 87.76, with a percentage increase of 17.46%. All assessment aspects were classified as moderate in cycle I and increased to the very high category in cycle II.
