Kata Kunci: Bargaining Position, Tenaga Kerja Wanita, Keluarga Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pergeseran peran dalam keluarga dan posisi tawar perempuan pasca bekerja sebagai Tenaga Kerja Wanita (TKW) di Desa Jati, Kecamatan Udanawu, Kabupaten Blitar. Latar belakang penelitian didasari oleh meningkatnya jumlah pekerja migran perempuan sebagai respon atas keterbatasan lapangan kerja, rendahnya pendapatan keluarga, dan tingginya kebutuhan ekonomi, khususnya biaya pendidikan anak. Migrasi perempuan ke luar negeri tidak hanya berdampak pada kondisi ekonomi keluarga, tetapi juga memengaruhi relasi gender dan struktur kekuasaan dalam rumah tangga. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari lima mantan TKW yang dipilih secara purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan dukungan teori pertukaran sosial (Homans, Blau, Emerson) dan teori kekuasaan dalam keluarga. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pergeseran signifikan dalam pembagian peran domestik selama istri bekerja di luar negeri. Suami yang sebelumnya berperan sebagai pencari nafkah utama mulai mengambil alih tugas rumah tangga seperti memasak, mencuci, mengasuh anak, dan mengatur keuangan harian. Pergeseran ini berlanjut pasca istri kembali, membentuk pola pembagian peran yang lebih setara. Kontribusi ekonomi istri melalui remitansi digunakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari, biaya pendidikan anak, perbaikan rumah, pembelian aset produktif, dan pelunasan utang. Faktor utama pendorong migrasi adalah keterbatasan lapangan kerja lokal, utang rumah tangga, dan ketidakstabilan penghasilan suami. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa migrasi TKW mampu meningkatkan bargaining position perempuan dalam keluarga, menggeser norma patriarki menuju relasi yang lebih egaliter. Namun, perubahan ini tidak seragam pada semua keluarga, karena masih dipengaruhi oleh nilai budaya, tingkat pendidikan, dan kondisi hubungan suami-istri. ABSTRACT Nurul Khotimah. 2025. Keywords: Bargaining Position, Migrant Domestic Workers, Family This study aims to analyze role shifts within families and the bargaining position of women after working as migrant domestic workers (Tenaga Kerja Wanita/TKW) in Jati Village, Udanawu Sub-district, Blitar Regency. The research background is based on the increasing number of female migrant workers as a response to limited job opportunities, low household income, and high economic demands, particularly for children’s education. Female migration abroad not only impacts the family’s economic condition but also influences gender relations and the power structure within households. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects consisted of five former TKWs selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using the social exchange theory (Homans, Blau, Emerson) and family power theory. The findings reveal a significant shift in domestic role distribution during the wives’ overseas employment. Husbands, who previously served as primary breadwinners, began taking on household duties such as cooking, cleaning, child-rearing, and managing daily finances. This shift persisted after the wives returned, resulting in a more equitable division of roles. Women’s economic contributions through remittances were used to cover daily needs, children’s education expenses, home renovations, purchase of productive assets, and debt repayment. Key driving factors for migration include limited local employment opportunities, household debt, and unstable husband income. The study concludes that female labor migration can enhance women’s bargaining position in the family, shifting patriarchal norms toward more egalitarian relationships. However, such changes are not uniform across all families, as they remain influenced by cultural values, education level, and the nature of the marital relationship.
