Keywords: writing, poetry, media, and audio visual This study aims to describe (1) the application of audiovisual media can improve poetry writing learning for grade VI students of SDN 3 Mrayan, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of grade VI students of SDN 3 Mrayan, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency in learning to write poetry using audiovisual media. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the application of audiovisual media can improve poetry writing learning for grade VI students of SDN 3 Mrayan, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency. This is evidenced by the behavior of students in class during learning activities using audiovisual media, which is apparently able to change student behavior along with the increase in students' poetry writing skills. Student activity in providing responses and answering questions from the teacher in stage 1 of cycle I is still low due to lack of confidence and lack of understanding of the material taught by the teacher. While in cycle II in terms of student activity in providing responses to learning materials, it is quite good with a very good category. Students who answered questions from the teacher were also very active in doing the tasks that had been given, and (2) the learning outcomes of class VI students of SDN 3 Mrayan, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency increased. The increase in each cycle can be seen from the average value of students which increased from cycle I by 64.2% in the sufficient category and cycle II by 90.6% in the very good category. The results of the test from cycle I to cycle II increased by 26.2%.
