Kata kunci: penilaian, autentik, dan membaca permulaan Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan penerapan penilaian autentik pada pembelajaran keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa kelas 1 SDN 2 Jarak Kecamatan Siman Kabupaten Ponorogo, (2) mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan permasalahan yang muncul pada penerapan penilaian autentik pada pembelajaran keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa kelas 1 SDN 2 Jarak Kecamatan Siman Kabupaten Ponorogo, dan (3) mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan solusi yang diperlukan pada penerapan penilaian autentik pada pembelajaran keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa kelas 1 SDN 2 Jarak Kecamatan Siman Kabupaten Ponorogo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah model interaktif dari Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) penerapan penilaian autentik siswa kelas I SDN 2 Jarak Kecamatan Siman Kabupaten Ponorogo pada pembelajaran membaca permulaan maka dapat disimpulkan bahawa Guru SDN 2 Jarak Kecamatan Siman Kabupaten Ponorogo sudah menrapkan penilain autentik dengan bentuk yang bervariasi yang meliputi penilaian sikap, pengetahuan dan keterampilan, (2) permasalahan yang dihadapi guru SDN 2 Jarak Kecamatan Siman Kabupaten Ponorogo dalam menerapkan penilaian autentik meliputi penilaian sikap seperti guru mengalami kesulitan jika terdapat siswa yang kurang tepat dalam memberikan jawaban penilaian diri, lalu dalam penilaian pengetahuan seperti guru bingung dalam melakukan tes lisan karena terbatasnya waktu dan dalam penilaian keterampilan berupa guru mengalami hambatan dalam pengarsipan hasil penilain portofolio, dan (3) upaya-upaya yang dilakukan guru untuk mengatasi masalah-masalah dalam menerapkan penilaian autentik antara lain: guru melakukan pendampingan saat siswa menjawab penilain diri, guru membagi menjadi dua kelompok dan masuk secara bergantian, guru menyimpan di map dan ditempelkan hasil pekerjaan siswa. Keywords: assessment, authenticity, and beginning reading This research aims to (1) describe and explain the application of authentic assessment in the learning of beginning reading skills for grade 1 students at SDN Gandu, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency, (2) describe and explain the problems that arise in the application of authentic assessment in the learning of beginning reading skills for grade 1 students at SDN Gandu, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency, and (3) describe and explain the solutions needed for implementing authentic assessment in learning initial reading skills for grade 1 students at SDN Gandu, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The technique used to analyze data in this research is the interactive model from Miles and Huberman. The results of this research are (1) the application of authentic assessment of class I students at SDN Gandu, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency in initial reading learning, so it can be concluded that teachers at SDN Gandu, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency have implemented authentic assessment in various forms which include assessment of attitudes, knowledge and skills, (2) the problems faced by teachers at SDN Gandu, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency in implementing authentic assessment include attitude assessment, such as teachers experiencing difficulties if there are students who are inaccurate in giving self-assessment answers, then in assessing knowledge, such as teachers being confused in carrying out oral tests because of limited time and in assessing skills in the form of teachers experiencing obstacles in archiving portfolio assessment results, and (3) efforts made by teachers to overcome problems in implementing authentic assessment, including: teachers provide assistance when students answer self-assessments, teachers divide them into two groups and enter in turns, the teacher saves it in a folder and attaches the results of the students' work.
