Abstract

Abstract : This study aims to describe the implementation of early writing instruction for third-grade students at SDN Banyuurip, Ngawi District, and to identify the factors causing early writing difficulties in two third-grade students at the same school. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, which were used to obtain the research findings.The results of the study show that early writing difficulties experienced by the third-grade students include: (1) inability to write vowels and consonants, as well as form words and sentences; (2) inability to write while the teacher is explaining; and (3) inability to write consistent and correctly formed letters. These difficulties are caused by two main factors: internal and external. Internal factors include: (1) students' intelligence levels; (2) students' attitudes and interest in learning; and (3) students' learning habits. External factors include: (1) environmental conditions; (2) the relationship between teacher and student; and (3) parental attention to the students' learning activities.Based on the results and data analysis, it can be concluded that the two third-grade students at SDN Banyuurip experience early writing difficulties as both are unable to write the alphabet letters A–Z. These difficulties are influenced by both internal and external factors, as well as differences in intelligence levels between these two students and their peers.
