Abstract
This study aims to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of second-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Ngrayudan on the topic of fractions through the implementation of interactive learning media in the form of fraction puzzles. The background of this research is the low student learning outcomes due to the lack of variety in instructional media used by teachers, as well as the abstract nature of fractions, which are difficult for elementary school students to understand. This research employs a qualitative approach with the type of Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation of action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 15 second-grade students, consisting of 9 boys and 6 girls. Data were collected through teacher and student activity observations, interviews, student learning outcome tests, and questionnaires on student responses to the use of puzzle media. The results of the study indicate that puzzle-based learning media can enhance student engagement, motivation, and understanding of fractions. In the first cycle, the percentage of students achieving learning mastery was 40% with an average score of 71, which increased to 94% in the second cycle with an average score of 83. This improvement shows that puzzle media not only helps students grasp fraction concepts more easily but also makes learning more enjoyable and meaningful. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of interactive learning media in the form of puzzles is an effective strategy for improving students’ learning outcomes in fraction material. This media encourages students to learn actively, collaborate in groups, and enhance their cognitive, affective, and psychomotor involvement during the learning process.
