Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify various types of low-level plants found in the Nongko Ijo Pine Forest, and describe the encyclopedia development process as a Biology learning media on plant diversity material for class X high school students. This study also analyzed the level of validity and effectiveness of the encyclopedia in supporting the learning process. This research method is a Research and Development (RnD) research with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Sampling using the cruising method. The population of biological objects is all types of low-level plants in the Nongko Ijo Pine Forest area while the user population in the field of education is class X students of SMAN 6 Madiun. Data collection techniques were carried out by identifying plants, filling out validation sheets by material and media validators, and filling out practicality questionnaire sheets by X grade students at SMAN 6 Madiun. The results of the study obtained 14 species of lower plants with 4 species of Bryophyta and 10 species of Pteridophyta. The content of the encyclopedia book includes 5 chapters, namely chapter 1 discusses the introduction, learning outcomes, learning objectives, chapter 2 overview, chapter 3 classification of plantae, chapter 4 species diversity and chapter 5 closing. The encyclopedia of lower plants has been proven valid and effective to be used as a learning media for biology on plant diversity for grade X high school students, with a validity score from material experts of 82%, a validity score from media experts of 83,3%, and an effectiveness score of 83,1%.
