Abstract
Improving the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools is a major concern in the world of education. The challenge is how to develop instruments in mathematics learning that are in accordance with the indicators. These difficulties have a direct impact on the low learning outcomes of students, this is exacerbated by the dominance of conventional learning approaches. Based on observations made in class IV SDN Grobogan 02, teachers tend to use the lecture method as the main approach. In addition, the teacher also has not utilized media that can visualize the concept of abstract material, so that students are still difficult to understand the material properly. Based on these problems, the researcher aims to improve students' math learning outcomes by using the Discovery Learning approach assisted by PhET media. This research uses Quantitative research using a quasi-experimental method, with the type of Nonequivalent Contrpl Group Design. With the research subject of fourth grade students of SDN Grobogan 02. Namely 20 students of class IV A as the experimental group, and 20 students of class IV B as the control class. Data collection techniques used include written tests (pre test and post test), observation, and documentation. The instrument used is a test question. The results of this study showed a significant increase in students' math learning outcomes. In the pre test, it is known that the average result is 51.75. After being given the learning treatment with the Discovery Learning learning model assisted by PhET media, another test was conducted, in the form of a post test. The average student score rose to 82.00, from these results it can be seen that there is a difference in the average value of the pre test and post test, which is 25.76. There was a difference in the mean value from before treatment and after treatment of -30.250. And the significance value (2-tailed) is 0.000 <0.05. So it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between math learning outcomes with the Discovery Learning learning model assisted by PhET media for grade IV students.
