Abstract

The global art toy industry has seen the rise of the Labubu doll, sparking long queues and extreme price surges in the Indonesian secondary market. Despite a macroeconomic decline in purchasing power, consumer interest in East Java remains high, driven by a shift in consumption behavior from basic needs toward psychological and social desires. This study aims to empirically examine the impact of FOMO, price, trends, and electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) on consumer purchase intention regarding the Labubu trend. Employing a quantitative approach with a population comprising residents of East Java specifically the cities of (Surabaya, Malang, Kediri, and Madiun) and utilizing cluster random sampling, the study secured a representative sample of 200 Gen Z social media users. Data were collected via Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS 25 software. The findings reveal that FOMO, price, and trends each exert a positive and significant partial effect on purchase intention; conversely, e-WOM does not have a significant partial effect on purchase intention. These results are expected to encourage producers and marketers to optimize scarcity-based marketing strategies and perception-based pricing management to sustain consumer engagement. Keywords: Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), Price, Trend, Electronic Word of Mouth (E-WOM), Purchase Intention, Labubu.
