Abstract

Setiyowati. 2026. Improving Gross Motor Skills (Coordination of Head, Hands, and Feet) Through Simple Basic Local Dance Movements in Children Aged 4–5 Years at TK Nawakartika XXVII Teguhan. Undergraduate Thesis. Early Childhood Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Education, Universitas PGRI Madiun. This study was motivated by the low level of gross motor skills among children aged 4–5 years at TK Nawakartika XXVII Teguhan, particularly in coordinating movements of the head, hands, and feet. The purpose of this study was to improve children's gross motor skills through the implementation of simple basic local dance movements. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 12 children in Group A at TK Nawakartika XXVII Teguhan. Data were collected through observation, performance assessment, and documentation. The data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results showed an improvement in children's gross motor skills, particularly in coordinating movements of the head, hands, and feet. In the pre-cycle stage, the percentage of children achieving the predetermined mastery criteria was 30%. After the intervention in Cycle I, the percentage increased to 62%, but it had not yet reached the established success criterion. In Cycle II, following improvements in the use of more enjoyable dance activities and the provision of individual guidance, the percentage increased significantly to 86%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of simple basic local dance movements can improve gross motor skills, particularly the coordination of head, hand, and foot movements, in children aged 4–5 years at TK Nawakartika XXVII Teguhan.
