Abstract

The assessment of practical skills in schools is still often conducted in a general manner without standardized instruments, so it does not yet objectively reflect students’ abilities. This study aims to develop an assessment instrument for students’ skills in using length-measuring instruments and to determine its validity and reliability. The research type is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. The population consisted of 10 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Madiun, and the sample was selected through purposive sampling. The instrument consisted of a Guttman-scaled observation sheet with five indicators of skills in using length-measuring instruments. The results of the validation by three experts indicated that the instrument is highly valid (88.3%). The reliability test yielded a Percentage of Agreement of 97.33% (highly reliable), while the practicality test conducted by teachers yielded a score of 92.3% (highly practical). The instrument is suitable for objectively assessing students’ psychomotor skills.
