Abstract

The development of this web-based expert system for diagnosing stomach diseases aims to assist ‎the public in recognizing and diagnosing stomach diseases early. This system utilizes the forward ‎chaining method, which is one of the inference techniques in expert systems, to diagnose based on ‎symptoms input by users. With this approach, the system matches the provided symptoms with the ‎rules in the knowledge base, to subsequently conclude the possible disease the user is ‎experiencing. This research was conducted at Balerejo Hospital, Madiun, over a period of 4 ‎months from April to July 2024, encompassing stages of data collection, problem analysis, system ‎design, system implementation, system testing, and report writing. The knowledge base in this ‎system includes various stomach diseases such as gastritis, peptic ulcers, GERD, stomach cancer, ‎and other diseases. The system development uses PHP programming language and MySQL ‎database to ensure optimal performance and ease of access for users. The test results show that ‎this expert system can provide accurate diagnoses based on the symptoms input by users, as well ‎as recommendations for the next steps that users can take. With this system, it is expected to ‎increase public awareness of stomach health and provide initial solutions that can be taken before ‎further consultation with professional medical personnel.‎
