Abstract

ABSTRACT Panji Kusuma Putra Nuriya Ralingga, 2024. Decision Support System for Determining College Majors Based on Students' Interests and Talents Using the Profile Matching Method at SMAN 4 Madiun. Thesis Research Report. Informatics Engineering Study Program, FT, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisor 1 Puguh Jayadi, S.Kom, M.Kom and Supervisor 2 Muh Nur Luthfi Azis, S.Kom, M.Kom. The choice of major needs to be done to collect and select students' abilities while taking the same educational program. The results of interviews with 6 out of 15 grade 11 students majoring in science and social studies showed that they felt confused about choosing a major. Thus, this research aims to develop a Decision Support System (SPK) that helps Madiun 4 State High School students choose majors that suit their interests and potential. In developing this SPK, researchers used the Profile Matching method in developing an algorithm to analyze student profiles. This website functions as the main platform in the decision support system. Meanwhile, the Profile Matching method is used to match student profiles with certain criteria in order to provide appropriate major recommendations. Student profile data which includes interests, talents, academic achievements and other aspects is integrated in the analysis process to determine the most suitable major for each student. This indicates that the system provides major recommendations with a high level of accuracy and consistently according to student data.
