Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the influence of Youtube social media on the participation of novice voters in the presidential election in Pule Village, Pule District, Trenggalek Regency in 2024. The purpose of this study is to determine the participation of novice voters in the Presidential election and to identify the effect of using YouTube social media on the participation of novice voters in the 2024 Presidential election. This research uses a method in the form of a qualitative descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used are interviews and documentation using two data sources, namely primary data sources through interviews with sources and secondary data sources derived from journals, books and documents. The results showed that the participation of novice voters in the presidential election was very high, characterized by high political awareness through active registration and the use of their voting rights. Novice voters show commitment to democracy by being directly involved in the presidential and vice presidential election process. The use of social media, especially YouTube, can make it easier for novice voters to find out, assess, analyze and search for information related to presidential and vice presidential candidates. From this YouTube social media get information about politics in the form of elections for presidential and vice presidential candidates. Social media, especially YouTube, has a significant influence on the participation of novice voters in the 2024 presidential election.
