Abstract

The aims of this research are (1) to describe and explain the implementation of local wisdom in learning Indonesian in Class V of Elementary School, (2) to describe and explain local wisdom that can be applied, (3) to describe and explain the benefits of local wisdom in learning Indonesian in Class V elementary school. A qualitative approach was used in this research to explore in depth the role of local wisdom in Indonesian language learning in Class V of Elementary School. Descriptive research is used to provide a clear picture of the implementation of local wisdom in Indonesian language learning. The research subjects were teachers and students of Class V Elementary School with a total of 14 children. The research results show (1) Implementation of Local Wisdom in Learning. Research at SDN Pulerejo, Pilangkenceng District, Madiun Regency, highlights the importance of integrating local wisdom in Indonesian language learning in class V. Local wisdom functions not only as an additional element but as the core of the learning approach. The use of folk tales such as "The Legend of Mount Wilis" and "The Origin of Pulerejo Village" as teaching materials has improved student understanding, with 85% of students showing improvement in reading comprehension. Teachers act as facilitators and motivators, holding activities such as folklore dramatizations that increase student cooperation and creativity. The use of media and technology is also implemented to make learning more interactive. (2) Local wisdom applied includes customs, regional languages and traditional arts. Customs such as village clean-up ceremonies teach the value of mutual cooperation. Regional languages are used to strengthen students' local identity, and traditional arts such as dance are taught to express themselves and understand cultural values. The "Traditional Market" activity trains language skills and introduces students to local economic culture, improving students' communication skills. (3) Implementation of local wisdom has a positive impact on students' understanding and language skills. The use of local cultural elements increases students' literacy skills by up to 30%. Regional languages as a bridge in Indonesian language learning strengthen students' bilingual skills and improve test scores. Students' learning motivation also increases when the lesson material is relevant to their daily lives. Local wisdom helps shape students' character, develop critical thinking, social and communication skills. In addition, local wisdom strengthens the relationship between school and community, and helps students develop a strong cultural identity.
