Abstract
This study aims to analyze the forms, factors, and dominance of code-switching that occur in the teaching of Indonesian language in Grade V at SDN Brangol 1, Karangjati District, Ngawi Regency. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation methods. The data were analyzed based on Ronald Wardhaugh's theory of code-switching, which distinguishes between situational and metaphorical code-switching. The findings reveal that metaphorical code-switching is more dominantly used by teachers in the teaching process compared to situational code-switching. Code-switching is utilized to facilitate students' understanding, create a more familiar learning environment, and simplify explanations of complex concepts. The main factor influencing code-switching is the role of the speaker (teacher), who intentionally switches to Javanese to clarify concepts and motivate students. The listener (student) factor also plays a role, particularly when students require additional or more concrete explanations. In conclusion, code-switching in Indonesian language instruction at SDN Brangol 1 serves as an effective communicative strategy to enhance students' comprehension, create an inclusive learning environment, and facilitate communication between teachers and students.
