Abstract
The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of folklore-based contemporary wayang media in learning to write narrative texts for students with special needs in inclusive elementary schools, describe students' ability to write narrative texts after implementing folklore-based contemporary wayang media, and describe the obstacles faced by teachers and students with special needs in learning to write narrative texts using contemporary wayang media based on folklore. This research uses a mixed research approach, namely a quantitative descriptive research approach and a qualitative descriptive research approach. The research was carried out at SDN 2 Bangsri, Ngariboyo, Magetan with research subjects of 14 students with special needs. Data collection was carried out through passive role observation, in-depth interviews, document study, and narrative text writing tests. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively with descriptive statistics, and qualitative data analysis with interactive models. The results of the research showed that (1) teachers were able to apply contemporary wayang media based on folklore in accordance with previously prepared learning plans, (2) the competency and quality of writing of students with special needs increased after applying contemporary wayang media with folklore material, and (3) The obstacles faced by teachers and students in learning to write narrative texts using folklore-based contemporary wayang media include the limited linguistic competence of students with special needs in writing, the teacher's lack of ability to play contemporary wayang and storytelling, limited infrastructure, and the need for time. preparation which is quite long.
