Abstract
This study aims to improve students' poetry writing skills which are inseparable from the problems of Indonesian language learning in class X TKJ 1 SMK Negeri Takeran, Magetan Regency. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data sources used are informants, events and documents. The informants in this study were the Principal, Indonesian language teachers and class X TKJ 1 students. The events in this study were all forms of learning activities in the classroom. The research documents are RPP, Syllabus, List of Grades. The data collection technique in this study uses observation and documentation. The writing learning carried out is still intensely using a contextual approach. The way to overcome the above problems and to achieve educational goals optimally, the role of the teacher is very important and it is expected that the teacher has the right teaching method and is in accordance with the concepts of the subjects to be delivered. The objectives of this classroom action research are: (a) To find out whether the contextual approach through methods outside the classroom can improve students' poetry writing skills. (b) To find out how the steps of contextual approach learning through methods outside the classroom improve poetry writing skills. This study uses a two-cycle classroom action research design. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely: design, activities, observation, and reflection. The object of this research is class X TKJ 1 students of SMK Negeri Takeran Magetan. The data obtained are in the form of writing test results and observation sheets for teaching and learning activities. From the results of the analysis, it was found that students' abilities increased in cycle I to cycle II, namely, cycle I the average student score was (68) and cycle II (77), while in the pre-cycle the average student score only reached (64). The conclusion of this study is that the contextual learning approach using outdoor learning methods can have a positive effect on the ability to write poetry in Indonesian language subjects for class X TKJ 1 students of SMK Negeri Takeran Magetan, and this learning method can be used as an alternative for learning Indonesian, especially in writing materials.
