Abstract
This study aims to describe and explain the application of gadget utilization in an effort to increase interest in reading and writing and describe and explain the use of gadgets can increase interest in reading and writing in fifth grade students of SDN 2 Keniten Ponorogo in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 26 fifth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Keniten. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study used data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity techniques in this study used source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of the study showed that the application of gadget utilization to increase interest in reading and writing of fifth grade students of SDN 2 Keniten, Ponorogo can be done in several ways, namely (1) the use of interactive reading applications such as literacycloud and lets read, (2) the existence of educational games that involve reading and writing such as crosswords, scrabble, and wordscapes, (3) the use of creative writing platforms such as penzu and storybird, (4) educational audiobooks and podcasts, (5) reading and writing on social media such as instagram and tiktok, (6) interactive e-books and e-learning, (7) digital discussions and collaborations using google classroom and padlet. Inhibiting factors in the use of gadgets, namely interference from other applications such as social media and online games, lack of parental supervision, and limited digital literacy. The use of gadgets can increase the interest in reading and writing of grade V students of SDN 2 Keniten, Ponorogo District. Gadgets can make students learn according to their speed and interests. The use of gadgets for reading and writing helps students develop digital literacy. They learn how to search for information, write in digital format, and use technology productively. The use of gadgets for reading and writing not only makes literacy activities more interesting but also helps students develop creativity, critical thinking skills, and digital literacy.
