Abstract
Agung Sasmita. 2024. Profile of the Causes of High School Students' Misconceptions on Electricity Material Using 4 Tier Tests and Interviews. Thesis. Physics Education Study Program, PGRI MADIUN UNIVERSITY. Supervisor (I) Dr. Jeffry Handika S.Si., M.Si., M.Pd. Supervisor (II) Erawan Kurniadi S.Si., M.Sc. This research aims to uncover the causes of students' misconceptions about dynamic electricity material. This research uses qualitative research methods. The subjects of this research were 36 high school students in Madiun district. With a purposive sampling method. The instruments of this research were a validation questionnaire, 4 tier test questions, and the researcher was the interviewer. Validity testing was carried out using expert validation and data triangulation. There are 3 stages of data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The diagnostic test results showed that students were suspected of having misconceptions in the high category, namely 79%. There are several student misconceptions obtained in this research, namely that currents that have not passed through obstacles are larger because there is no narrowing of the path. Electric currents are like water flow and obstacles act as obstacles. Electrons will hit atoms (obstacles) so that electrons that successfully pass through obstacles are smaller than before. overcoming obstacles. The cause of misconceptions that occur among students is that students have their own associative thinking and wrong intuition. keywords: misconceptions, 4 tier, dynamic electricity
