Abstract

Environmental and social caring characters are interrelated and environmentally caring character and social caring character are important aspects that need to be instilled in students. Environmentally caring character and social caring character are all individual actions to care about the social environment around them and the desire to help other people because at that age they have an interpretation of the environment and society correctly, real and competently so as to create a character who cares about the environment. social surroundings. Cultivating the character of environmental care and social care can be done through the Adiwiyata program. The aim of this research is to determine the cultivation of environmentally caring character and social caring character through the Adwiyata program at SMP Negeri 3 Ponorogo. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were the principal, Adiwiyata team coordinator, teachers, 6 students who were used as informants. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation, documentation. The results of the research show that providing an overview of SMP Negeri 3 Ponorogo has instilled an environmentally caring character and asocially caring character through the Adiwiyata program by providing habituation, direction and understanding to students. Some students already have the character of caring for the environment and the character of social care, which can be seen from the students' implementation. There are obstacles and solutions faced by schools, namely, it is found that some students do not reflect this character, there are actions in the form of sanctions for students who do not reflect this character and other factors are caused by the diverse characters of students. The school is trying to find a solution to include students in small groups, as well as provide understanding and habituation to students to instill environmentally caring and socially caring characters through the Adiwiyata program at SMP Negeri 3 Ponorogo.
