Abstract

Gilang Kristyan Yulianto Saputro, Review of the Implementation of Science and Technology in the Independent Curriculum (Barriers and Challenges), Primary School Teacher Education Thesis, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, PGRI Madiun University. Supervisor (I) Dr. Ibadullah Malawi, M.Pd. (II) Dr. Endang Sri Maruti, M.Pd. The problem found at SDN Getasanyar 3 was the implementation of science and science subjects in the Independent Curriculum, with a focus on the obstacles and challenges faced by educators and educational institutions. The Merdeka Curriculum is designed to provide more flexibility in the learning process and encourage holistic development of student competencies. However, the implementation of science and technology in this curriculum still encounters various obstacles that need to be identified and overcome. The research method used is qualitative. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, school principals, as well as direct classroom observations. The research results show that the main obstacles in implementing IPAS include a lack of teacher training and understanding of active learning methods, limited resources and supporting facilities, as well as resistance to change from several related parties. Apart from that, another challenge is adapting teaching materials to suit the IPAS approach and evaluating learning success which is not yet fully integrated with the objectives of the Independent Curriculum. The conclusions of this research emphasize the need to increase teacher capacity through continuous training, provision of adequate facilities, and consistent policy support to ensure successful implementation of IPAS. Keywords: IPAS, Independent Curriculum, obstacles, challenges, implementation
