The Effectiveness of Group Counseling with Cognitive Restructuring Techniques in Reducing Academic Stress During Final Projects Among Students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Thesis. Guidance and Counseling Study Program, FKIP, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (1) Dr. Rischa Pramudia Trisnani, S.Pd., M.Pd., (2) Dr. Asroful Kadafi, S.Pd., M.Pd. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of group counseling implemented with cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce academic stress among students completing their final projects in the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at Universitas PGRI Madiun. Academic stress experienced by students often negatively affects their physical, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive conditions. Group counseling with cognitive restructuring focuses on changing negative thought patterns into positive ones, improving views on failure, and enhancing motivation through group dynamics. This study employs a One Group Pretest-Posttest experimental design, involving a population of 34 students and using purposive sampling to select 6 students as the sample. Statistical data management is conducted using the non-parametric Wilcoxon test to determine the effect of the intervention on academic stress levels. Normality analysis using the Shapiro-Wilk method indicates that pre-test and post-test data follow a normal distribution with a significance value greater than 0.05. The Wilcoxon test yields a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.028, which is less than 0.05, resulting in the rejection of the null hypothesis and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. Based on these findings, group counseling with cognitive restructuring techniques can be considered effective in reducing academic stress among students in the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at Universitas PGRI Madiun.
