Abstract

Roihul Firdaus (2026). The Effect of ABCs Drill Training on Agility in GASMI Pencak Silat Members of Tegalsari Branch. Thesis. Sports Science Study Program, Faculty of Health and Science, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Titin Kuntum Mandalawati, S.Pd., M.Or., (II) Ghon Lisdiantoro, S.Pd., M.Or. Agility is a crucial physical component in pencak silat, supporting the effectiveness of attack and defense techniques, as well as rapid and dynamic positional transitions. This research was motivated by the low level of agility among members of the GASMI Pencak Silat Tegalsari Branch, which is suspected to be due to suboptimal specific physical training methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the ABCs Drill training method on the agility of these pencak silat members. This study used a quantitative approach with an experimental method using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population in this study was all 50 active members of GASMI Tegalsari Branch, with a sample of 20 male members (aged 14–18) selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used to measure agility was the Illinois Agility Test. The data were analyzed descriptively and tested using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample t-test. The results showed a significant increase in agility, as indicated by a decrease in the average travel time of 0.50 seconds, from 17.91 seconds in the pretest to 17.41 seconds in the posttest. Statistical analysis showed a t-test value of 5.851 with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000, which is less than the 0.05 level (0.000 < 0.05). Based on these results, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha₀) was accepted. The conclusion of this study is that ABCs Drill training significantly improved the agility of GASMI Pencak Silat members from the Tegalsari Branch. This improvement occurred because ABC Drill training improved neuromuscular coordination, stride frequency, and body control when changing direction.
