Abstract

The Karesidenan Madiun region holds significant botanical diversity potential, yet research data collected by lecturers and students of the Biology Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) has largely been recorded manually and left undigitized, limiting accessibility and risking data loss. This study aims to design and develop e-Plantasia, a web-based information system for digitizing botanical research data, and to test its functionality using Black Box Testing. This research adopts a Research and Development (R&D) approach implemented through the Waterfall method, covering the stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and testing, built using native PHP, MySQL, and XAMPP. The e-Plantasia system provides features for exploring plant data by administrative region, taxonomic family, and morphological characteristics, and divides user access into three levels: admin, registered user, and general public. Black Box Testing on 29 test cases across user and admin levels achieved a success rate of 96.5% (28 of 29 test cases passed), classified as excellent. These results indicate that e-Plantasia can serve as an effective botanical learning platform, supporting the documentation, conservation, and education of local biodiversity while contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
