Abstract

Yourisea Headlin Pertiwi. 2026. Analysis of Sprinting Movements in the Madiun Raya Push Bike Sport (A Case Study of Riders Aged 4–6 Years at the Madiun Raya Push Bike Club). Undergraduate Thesis. Sports Science Study Program, Faculty of Health and Science, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Push bike activity for early childhood involves the ability to generate leg thrust, maintain balance, control body posture, and effectively coordinate leg movements. However, the characteristics and movement errors associated with sprinting among riders aged 4–6 years at the Madiun Raya Push Bike Club have not yet been biomechanically analyzed. This study aims to analyze the sprinting movements of push bike riders aged 4–6 years—covering sprint time and speed, stride frequency, body position, and hip, knee, and ankle joint angles—while identifying technical aspects requiring improvement. Research subjects were selected using purposive sampling, consisting of six riders aged 4–6 years (three boys and three girls) from the Madiun Raya Push Bike Club. Data were collected via video recordings using four mobile phone cameras during 20-meter sprints and subsequently analyzed frame-by-frame using the Kinovea application. The results indicate an average sprint time of 4.985 seconds, a speed of 3.96 m/s, a stride count of 21.83 strides, and a stride frequency of 4.32 strides/second. The average knee joint angle was 46.03° and the hip angle was 62.42°, both falling within or near the ideal angular ranges used in the study. Meanwhile, the average ankle joint angle of 81.27° remained below the ideal range of 90°–95°. The analysis also revealed variations in performance and movement patterns among the riders. These findings can serve as a basis for evaluating technique and designing training programs appropriate for the children's developmental stages. Keywords: push bike, sprint, biomechanics, Kinovea, joint angle, early childhood.
