Abstract
This study aims to identify epiphytic plants in the Brumbun River Tourism Area, Madiun, based on morphological characteristics (roots, stems, and leaves) and stem anatomy; to describe the physicochemical parameters of the epiphytes' habitat; and to develop an e-encyclopedia as a biology learning resource. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach using the cruise method. Data were obtained through field observations, documentation, laboratory-based morphological and anatomical identification, measurement of environmental physicochemical parameters, and validation of the e-encyclopedia product by subject matter experts, media experts, and respondents. The results indicate that the Brumbun River Tourism Area possesses a diversity of epiphytic plants comprising Pteridophyta, Bryophyta, and Spermatophyta groups. Morphological identification revealed variations in root, stem, and leaf characteristics as adaptations to the epiphytic habitat, while anatomical observations of the stems showed tissue structural differences that facilitate species identification and classification. The identification data were subsequently developed into an e-encyclopedia containing classifications, local and scientific names, morphological and anatomical descriptions, habitat details, original research documentation, and other supporting information. Validation results show that the e-encyclopedia achieved an overall average validation score of 93.3%, placing it in the "highly feasible" category. Furthermore, user response testing yielded a score of 84.58% from university students and 90.23% from the general public—both falling into the "very good" category—indicating that the e-encyclopedia is user-friendly, engaging, and a valuable resource for learning biology. This research is expected to serve as a contextual learning resource, enrich information regarding local epiphytic plant diversity, and support the utilization of the Brumbun River Tourism Area's potential as a learning medium and a means of biodiversity conservation.
