Abstract

The use of LPG as a household fuel has continued to increase because it is practical and efficient. However, LPG gas leakage remains one of the major causes of fires and explosions due to delays in detecting gas leaks. This study aims to design and develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based LPG gas leakage detection system capable of providing real-time warnings to users. The system was developed using an ESP32 microcontroller, an MQ-2 gas sensor, and a Telegram Bot as the notification medium. The results show that the system is able to detect LPG gas leaks, display the system status, activate an alarm as an early warning, and send notifications through Telegram whenever a gas leak is detected. Based on the testing results, all main system functions operated according to the design, enabling the system to assist users in detecting gas leaks at an early stage and improving the safety of LPG usage. The developed system is also expected to serve as an alternative solution for improving household safety through continuous monitoring and rapid warning of gas leakage. In addition, this system is expected to become a reference for the development of Internet of Things-based gas leakage detection systems in future research.
