Abstract

The Keduk Beji tradition is a cultural practice of the community in Tawun Village, Kasreman District, Ngawi Regency, that continues to be preserved to this day. This tradition serves not only as a cultural heritage but also embodies various values that play a significant role in the community's social life. This study aims to analyze the values inherent in the Keduk Beji tradition and examine their role in strengthening social capital and shaping the Pancasila character of the community. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Research subjects include traditional leaders, the village head, village officials, the organizing committee, and the residents of Tawun Village. Data collection techniques involved interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the Keduk Beji tradition embodies values of religiosity, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), togetherness, tolerance, environmental awareness, respect for ancestors, and cultural preservation. These values play a role in strengthening the community's social capital by fostering trust, social networks, norms of reciprocity, social participation, social solidarity, and social cohesion. Furthermore, the values of the Keduk Beji tradition contribute to shaping the community's Pancasila character by reinforcing traits such as religiosity, mutual cooperation, tolerance, unity, social responsibility, democratic attitudes, and environmental awareness. Research findings indicate that local traditions play a strategic role as a medium for social and cultural education, capable of strengthening community life while shaping citizens' character in alignment with Pancasila values.
