Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying organic fertilizers, guano, and bioslurry on the growth of green amaranth (Amaranthus hybridus L.) and to compile a research-based e-book as a learning medium. The background of this study is the need for sustainable agriculture and efforts to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers with more environmentally friendly organic fertilizer alternatives. The research was conducted in Paron Village, Ngawi, and at the PGRI Madiun University Pharmacy Laboratory from April to July 2025. The research used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of 13 treatments combining doses of kasgot, guano, and bioslurry fertilizers, each repeated three times. The parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, wet plant weight, chlorophyll content, iron content, as well as pH, moisture, and NPK content of the planting medium. The results showed that the application of kasgot, guano, and bioslurry fertilizers had a significant effect on the growth of green spinach compared to the control. Bioslurry fertilizer at a dose of 75 g yielded the best results for growth parameters, while guano fertilizer at a dose of 50 g yielded the highest chlorophyll content, and kasgot at a dose of 50 g yielded the best iron content in green spinach. The results of this study were then compiled into a research-based e-book as an educational resource on the benefits of organic fertilizers for use in applied biology courses.
