Abstract

The objectives of this research are (1) to determine the effect of scaffolding techniques on the critical thinking abilities of fifth grade students at SD Negeri Grojogan, Nganjuk Regency. (2) Knowing the effect of scaffolding techniques on the argumentation writing skills of class V students at SD Negeri Grojogan, Nganjuk Regency. (3) Knowing the effect of scaffolding techniques on critical thinking skills and simultaneous argumentation writing skills for class V students at SD Negeri Grojogan, Nganjuk Regency. The research method used in this study is quantitative quasi-experimental. The test technique used in this study is anova independent t-test. The research subjects were 30 fifth-grade students of Grojogan State Elementary School. The research method used in this study is quantitative quasi-experimental. The test technique used in this study is anova independent t-test The research subjects were 30 fifth grade students at Grojogan State Elementary School, consisting of 20 boys and 10 girls. The data in this research are the results of observations of teacher activities and students' critical thinking abilities. Data collection techniques used were observation, documentation, interviews and tests. The research results after implementing the scaffolding technique on critical thinking skills showed a good impact. This is evident from the increase from the Control Class to the Experimental Class. The average student activity component score in the Control Class was 66.11% to 86,66% in the Experiment Class. The increase from the control class to the experimental class was 20.55%. Thus, it is concluded that the application of scaffolding techniques can improve the critical thinking skills of fifth grade students at SD Negeri Grojogan, Nganjuk Regency.
