Keywords: descriptive writing skills, learning methods, and writing relay This study aims to describe (1) the application of the relay writing method can improve descriptive writing learning activities in grade IV students of SD Negeri 2 Lengkong, Lengkong District, Nganjuk Regency, and (2) the learning outcomes of grade IV students of SD Negeri 2 Lengkong, Lengkong District, Nganjuk Regency in description writing skills using the relay writing method. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the application of the relay writing method can improve descriptive writing learning activities in grade IV students of SD Negeri 2 Lengkong, Lengkong District, Nganjuk Regency. This is proven in cycle II students are more active during the learning process, students pay attention to the teacher's explanation and have high enthusiasm and motivation in learning. The focus, activeness and enthusiasm of students are increased because the teacher explains the material in an interesting way. The teacher explains the material while giving games to students and giving jokes so that the classroom atmosphere is not tense and students are not tense in learning so that students are more enthusiastic about learning, and (2) the learning outcomes of grade IV students of SD Negeri 2 Lengkong, Lengkong District, Nganjuk Regency in description writing skill using the relay writing method have increased. This is indicated by in cycle I of 6 students or 25% of students achieved learning completion, while in cycle II as many as 22 students or 91.6% of students achieved learning completion and classical learning completion was achieved. The average value of cycle 1 was 52.21 with the category of incomplete. While in cycle 2 the average value was 84.71 with the category of complete.
